Thomas's Ham & Eggery Diner sits on Old Country Road in Carle Place as a classic spot for breakfast and hearty comfort food that feels like a familiar routine for locals and visitors alike. This is the kind of place where morning regulars and weekend brunchers come with a clear idea of what they want — generous portions, straightforward diner classics, and a warm, no-frills atmosphere.

Inside, the vibe is welcoming without pretense. Early weekday mornings tend to be calm, making it easy to settle in with a good cup of coffee that the attentive staff keep refilling throughout the meal. The space itself doesn’t try to impress with design but instead focuses on delivering the kind of comfort that long-time diners expect — booths and counters where conversation flows naturally, whether you’re flying solo or with family.

The menu caters mostly to traditional diner fans who appreciate a solid breakfast lineup. Signature dishes like the homemade corned beef hash, strawberry croissant French toast, and the Greek frittata show some thoughtful variety, balancing classic American staples with touches that hint at a broader palate. The Cajun omelette, southern fried chicken, and marinated pork chops bring in a bit of heartier, lunch-oriented fare for those stopping by beyond breakfast hours.

Thomas’s is a good fit for anyone who likes a diner experience without rushing — families looking for a filling brunch, solo diners who appreciate prompt service and consistent breakfasts, or groups that want a lively yet unpretentious place to gather. The weekends bring a busier, more bustling energy, with the parking lot often full but seating managed efficiently. If you prefer a quieter visit, early weekday mornings are the best bet.

One standout element is the staff’s attentiveness and friendliness, which sets this diner apart from others where service can sometimes feel rushed or distant. Whether it's a quick weekday bite or a relaxed weekend meal, people seem to appreciate how the staff strike a balance between being on top of refills and giving diners space to enjoy their meals.

In short, Thomas's Ham & Eggery Diner serves up reliable, hearty dishes in a familiar setting that feels like a dependable neighborhood spot rather than a novelty. It’s tailored to those who come with an appetite for classic breakfast and diner food, served with a side of genuine, steady service.

One of the best diners on Long Island hands down! Roxanne was our server she is wonderful. Also the fellows that keep refilling the coffee cups are great.

Came here for brunch and was not disappointed. Everyone was friendly, and the food was delicious. Very generous portions, will certainly come back when in the area.

I was greeted as I entered. 8am on a Tuesday so it was nice and empty. I was asked to pick any seat I liked. The waiters were prompt and attentive. My order came out quickly and exactly how I ordered. My Greek omelet was delicious. Toast was perfect and even the butter was good.

My on our way back from an up island appointment and search for food places in the area. This one seemed intriguing, just a little diner. When we pulled up, we were a little concerned because it didn’t look quite as we were expecting. But once we were inside, the atmosphere was so warm, the staff was extremely friendly and the food was amazing. Like amazing amazing. You could tell that the place was packed all of the time.

I've heard a lot of good things about Thomas's, so as I was in the area and looking for a place to get breakfast, I decided to check it out. This was on a weekend so the restaurant was very crowded. The parking lot was full, so I had to wait for someone to leave. To my surprise, I didn't have to wait for a table and was seated immediately. I ordered the Stuffed Mixed Berry French Toast. In case you're wondering, it really, really tasted like berries! It was good and very sweet. I would return here for brunch. The price is reasonable and the service was good. The seating is a bit cramped, which is expected for such a popular brunch spot.
